Introduction to the speaker:
Dr. Weiliang Zhu, is a professor of CAS Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica. He received his Bachelor, Master, and Ph.D. degrees at School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Yangzhou University in 1983, at Shuzhou University in 1988, at Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica in 1998, respectively.
Dr. Zhu worked as an assistant lecturer at Yangzhou University from 1983 to 1986 and a lecturer from 1988 to 1995. From 1998 to 2004, he worked as a lecturer at Singapore Polytechnic and after July 2004 was employed as a professor of CAS Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica. Dr. Zhu was supported by several projects such as National Natural Science Foundation of China, Sub-project of 12th-Five-Year New Drugs Innovation Special Project, State 863 projects of 11th-Five-Year and 12th-Five-Year, and Science and Technology Commission Based Significant Science and Research Projects of Shanghai.
Dr. Zhu is interested in the field of Computer-Aidded Drug Design (CADD), Computational Biology and Medicinal Chemistry, and especially focuses on the development of new methods and theories of drug design, which could be applied in the new drug development for diabetes, cancer, and infectious disease.
